Italian... Mexican Food?!

I am a burrito lover. Chipotle-obsessed. When I heard of a Mexican restaurant in Rome, I had to try it!

The Perfect Bun. It is located near Piazza Navona off of Vittorio Emanuele II. When you walk in, you are greeted by tables the length of the restaurant. It is family style, in that you are rubbing elbows with strangers as you eat. There are no table clothes, place mats or table settings. If there were, everything would just get dirty! And you eat burritos with your hands not a fork and knife. The Perfect Bun sets the perfect location to Mexican food. I ordered nachos and a burrito. It was A LOT of food. Unfortunately, the burrito was a bit too dry for my taste. Nothing can be Chipotle! But it was still a delicious restaurant and great scene!

  1. Amy your blog makes me hungry haha. I am honestly so jealous of all the delicious food that you have been eating. I personally love Italian food and have been searching Australia for an authentic Italian restaurant. Food is such an important part of the culture of another country and I really enjoy that your blog focuses on it! I also really like the mini translator on the side- very helpful and very interesting too!

As far as Mexican food...it is very possibly that I enjoy Mexican food more than Italian haha. If I could eat them both at the same time I probably would. It is so funny that you mention Chipotle. The Americans here in Australia constantly talk about Chipotle leaving all of the English and Australian students confused as to what we are talking about. Many of them now make fun of us for being so obsessed with this Mexican food chain. Little do they know that they would feel the same way if they ever tried it haha. Looking forward to see you back at school : ) Have a safe trip home!

  2. Amy your blog is awesome. I love that is revolves around food. This post in particular made me miss chiplote haha. Everything that you have eaten sounds so appetizing. Unfortunately I can not say the same for Amsterdam. The food here is pretty bland and it cares more about hardiness rather than taste.
Like you, my friends and I have looked all over for mexican food. We so far have failed. The closest we have gotten to is Spanish and Argentinean cuisine. What I would do for a chicken taco with some good guacamole. I am glad that you got your mexican and I hope the end of abroad was amazing!

  3. I love The Perfect Bun! Although its a bit expensive, it definitely satisfies the weird Mexican craving we had the whole time. Did you get the nachos? Those were amazing, and so filling that I couldn't eat my fajitas after. Whoops. Wish we could go back and do it again! Remember the other mexican place with the shopping cart races? That was so much fun.
